Coffee-Rubbed Carne Asada Tacos: Your Grill Just Got a Promotion.

You've done the basic taco. You've done the fancy taco. You've probably done the 2 AM taco.

But have you done the coffee taco?

We took carne asada — already one of the greatest things you can put on a tortilla — and hit it with a Brew Buddy French Roast dry rub. Dark, bold, low acidity. The kind of coffee that doesn't mess around. Combined with citrus, cumin, and a cold brew lime crema that has absolutely no business being this good, this is the taco that makes people stop mid-bite and ask what you did.

The answer is coffee. The answer is always coffee.

The Coffee Dry Rub

  • 2 tbsp Brew Buddy French Roast, finely ground
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Mix it all together. That's your rub. It smells unreal.

The Cold Brew Lime Crema

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp Brew Buddy Cold Brew concentrate
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • Pinch of salt

Whisk together. Refrigerate until ready. Try not to eat it with a spoon.

The Carne Asada

  • 1.5 lbs skirt steak or flank steak
  • Full batch of the coffee dry rub
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Juice of 1 orange + 1 lime
  1. Coat the steak in olive oil, then press the dry rub into both sides generously.
  2. Pour the orange and lime juice over the top. Let it marinate at least 1 hour — overnight if you're serious.
  3. Grill on high heat, 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Let it rest 5 minutes.
  4. Slice thin, against the grain.

Build Your Taco

  • Warm corn tortillas (charred on the grill if you're doing this right)
  • Coffee-rubbed carne asada
  • Cold brew lime crema
  • Fresh cilantro + diced white onion
  • Sliced jalapeño
  • A squeeze of lime

Why French Roast Works Here

Bold. Smoky. Zero acidity to fight the citrus marinade. Brew Buddy French Roast adds a deep, almost charred note to the crust that you'd normally only get from a wood-fired grill. It's not a gimmick — it's the whole move.

The Brew Buddy Way

Roasted to order. Shipped fresh. Built for people who take their coffee — and their tacos — seriously.
